A double BRIT Award and three time MOBO Award winning singer and rapper to ‘motivate youngsters to achieve more’ by giving inspirational speech at Bristol conference

The Bristol Legacy Commission has organised ‘Yes You Can 2010’ a one day conference to inspire Bristol’s youth to go on to achieve great things. It will be held at the prestigious St. George’s concert hall on Tuesday 29th June.

Over 350 attendees are expected at the event which will feature a series of informative and interactive workshops by key industry leaders, musical performances and the highlight will be a motivational speech by award winning stars.

The Bristol Legacy Commission is a local community led organisation that was established in 2008 by Bristol City Council to transform culture, education and health for communities in Bristol.

The Bristol Legacy Commission is chaired by Paul Stephenson OBE who has long been recognised for his services to equal opportunities and to community relations in Bristol.

Paul Stephenson, Chair, Bristol Legacy Commission stated;

“One of the main aims of the Bristol Legacy Commission is to raise the aspirations of Bristol’s young people. An event like the ‘Yes You Can 2010’ conference will do a great deal to inspire these 14 and 15 year olds who are all about to make important choices that can affect the rest of their lives.”

“These young people are often overlooked and the conference aims to motivate them by informing them about career choices in a practical way which they may not have considered before. Even the venue choice is important as the conference is hosted in a historic venue which will inspire the young people attending to think on a grand scale.”

The conference has been organised by the African and Caribbean Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise (ACCCE) and features a series of workshops by high profile industry leaders from Bristol who include:

Digital Media - Jaya Chakrabarti – Nameless
Business - Leon Alexander – MD of Hope Group – label and artist management company
Politics - Marvin Rees – political commentator and broadcaster

Fola Kudehinbu, Executive Chair, African & Caribbean Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise (ACCCE) stated;

“We are honoured to be awarded the contract for such an important event. Young people are the future and 14-15 is an important age at which key lifestyle choices need to be made. We need to inspire the future generation as they are the ones who will go on to be leaders of the future.”
